This page will introduce you to the quality orchids bred and grown by our world class vendors. Some pictures here are not the actual plants offered for sale but represent the parental quality of any given cross. In many cases the seedlings offered for sale are the next generation-a step up in quality and refinement from previous generations. Seedlings are the most economical way to expand your collection with a unique plant-like buying original art work.

Hardy Cattleya Species From Gold Country Orchids
Lealia sincorana line bred to perfection by Alan Koch or Gold Country Orchids. These are tetraploid plants with superior size flowers and a vigorous growth habit. Laelia sincorana is perfect mounted to cork bark hung outside, tolerating a mild frost and full sun (with some midday shade required) The flowers are huge relatively speaking for the size of the plant and they are also fragrant. Because they are hardy in a variety of environments for warmer to cooler climates these are first pick for those wanted to get your feet wet in Orchidacea. We have some comparative pictures of what Alan started with in comparison to his modern line bred forms of this spectacular species. Visit our Facebook.com page: Real Orchid Growers for more pictures of this exciting species.

Alan has done it again with these exquisite forms (above/below) of the Brazilian species Cattleya intermedia.

Take a look at one of the easiest growing orchids that you can out your hands on. Hardy to heat and cold. Gloriously fragrant. Makes wonderful mounted specimens when grown on a cork slab or hardwood stick.

Cal-Orchid Hybrid Epidendrums are a sensation that has rocked the orchid world with unprecedented size, flower conformation and vigor for the type. These plants thrive in frost free environments indoors and out but do require a very good portion of natural strong light to be happy with protection from burning mid-day sun. These must be protected from frost. Cal-Orchid has an exquisite breeding line that allows them to produce extraordinary flower color combinations. These are excellent beginner plants providing you heed the warning to protect them from frost in winter. If you can handle that simple cultural recommendation you can collect a rainbow of dazzling color forms. If you want an idea of the colors and patterns to select from please click below on my compendium of the first bloomed seedlings I find notable. I am always updating the Facebook.com site with new fresh pictures as I find more treasures on visits to orchid events and our grower's greenhouses. Here's the link to our Facebook page: Real Orchid Growers All of the seedlings are going to be slightly different. At the San Jose Orchid Exposition on June 3-5, 2011 in San Jose Japantown there will be flocks of new Epi babies for you to pick from. Pick three to five and enjoy a long lasting floral symphony of color. These make great gifts as well.
